What Is Schizophrenia?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schizophrenia is a serious mental illness that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. People with schizophrenia may appear to have lost touch with reality, which can be distressing for them and their family and friends.

The symptoms of schizophrenia can make it difficult to participate in usual, everyday activities, but effective treatments are available.

Treatment can help people remain in school, maintain employment, achieve independence, and enjoy personal relationships.

Reduction in the Risk of Recurrent Suicidal Behavior in Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder

VERSACLOZ® (clozapine) is indicated for reducing the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are judged to be at chronic risk for re-experiencing suicidal behavior, based on history and recent clinical state.

Suicidal behavior refers to actions by a patient that put him/herself at risk for death.
